18 Million Strong

But 17,999,988 couldn’t clear their sunday afternoon schedule for the biggest PUMA meetup since their last conference. A shame, really. I would have loved to see Darragh Murphy and Andy Martin get together again…

  1. Andy Martin was never associated with PUMA. He followed the PUMAs around for a while, in an effort to sell books. He was ultimately thrown out of PUMA headquarters in Denver, just for showing up one time too many.

I know whereof I speak, because every time Andy showed up, he spent most of his time talking to me.

On the other hand, perhaps it’s a good thing so few managed to get to Boston. When a bunch of us first arrived in Denver, Darragh thought it might be a good idea to feed everyone. Neither she nor her mother had ever orderede pizzas before, and had no idea how it was done. It took them both over an hour to call the pizza place to order food.

Now I don’t know about you, but anyone who doesn’t know how to order pizzas has no fucking business trying to lead a grass-roots political movement.

  2. Please, please, please let there be orange balloons and Japanese reporters…

They never learn, do they? Oh well, at least they can talk about Sinclair’s cameo in one of Belgium’s less reputable magazines or something…

  3. “Now I don’t know about you, but anyone who doesn’t know how to order pizzas has no fucking business trying to lead a grass-roots political movement.”

Well said Brad Mays, well said…

  4. …um, wow. WOW.

How exactly do you -not know- how to order pizza? Even if you’re not ordinarily in the habit? I mean…what, they also don’t know how to use the Yellow Pages (online equivalent or anything)? Dial a phone number? Remember their own address? At worst ask someone else to do the honors of figuring out how many pizzas and what everyone wants? I mean…one doesn’t know what to say.

  5. …oh. I like the “Monty Python that I don’t understand, but I bet it’s funny” bit, too. That’s…kind of perfect, actually. Wonder if she’d understand the Peoples’ Front of Judea bit from “Life of Brian.” Or the Black Knight from “Holy Grail,” for that matter…
